Job summary

The Clary Group is seeking an experienced Solar Construction Manager to lead field operations on utility‑scale solar projects from mobilization through completion. You will manage crews, subcontractors, equipment, schedules, safety, and quality to meet contract requirements and project specs.

You will oversee pile installation, tracker systems, site logistics, material management, civil coordination, and robust schedule management across active construction sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of construction management experience, preferably in utility‑scale solar.
• Experience managing large‑scale solar mechanical construction projects.
• Strong understanding of solar construction methods, including piles, trackers, racking systems, and mechanical installation.
• Experience managing crews, subcontractors, equipment, and site logistics.
• Strong knowledge of construction scheduling and production tracking.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
• Working knowledge of OSHA construction requirements.
• Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, construction management software, and project scheduling tools.
• Ability to travel and work on active construction sites for extended periods.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day construction activities on utility‑scale solar projects.
• Develop and maintain project execution plans, schedules, and production goals.
• Coordinate construction activities with project management, engineering, procurement, owners, EPC contractors, and subcontractors.
• Monitor progress against the project schedule and identify potential delays or schedule impacts.
• Establish daily, weekly, and monthly production goals and hold crews accountable for performance.
• Manage site mobilization, demobilization, manpower, equipment, and construction resources.
• Ensure work is performed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, contracts, and manufacturer requirements.
• Direct and coordinate field supervisors, foremen, subcontractors, and craft personnel.
• Ensure adequate manpower and equipment are available to meet production requirements.
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and adherence to contractual obligations.
• Conduct regular coordination and progress meetings.
• Address performance issues and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Maintain a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA requirements and project‑specific safety policies.
• Coordinate with site safety personnel to identify and mitigate hazards.
• Conduct or participate in daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and site inspections.
• Stop work when unsafe conditions are identified and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Ensure construction activities meet project drawings, specifications, tolerances, and manufacturer requirements.
• Monitor installation quality and identify deficiencies before they impact the project.
• Coordinate inspections, testing, punch lists, and corrective work.
• Document material defects, installation issues, and field conditions.
• Work with engineering and project management to resolve technical issues and RFIs.
• Track daily production and compare actual performance against planned production rates.
• Identify schedule risks and develop recovery plans when necessary.
• Coordinate work sequencing to minimize downtime and construction inefficiencies.
• Maintain accurate daily reports, progress documentation, and productivity records.
• Communicate schedule impacts and potential delays to project management.
• Coordinate material deliveries, staging, laydown areas, and material handling.
• Monitor material quantities and identify shortages or discrepancies.
• Ensure materials are properly stored and protected from damage.
• Coordinate equipment needs, maintenance, and utilization.

• Understand project scopes, contracts, drawings, specifications, and subcontract requirements.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Solar Construction Manager to oversee the successful execution of utility-scale solar construction projects from mobilization through completion. This position is responsible for managing field operations, subcontractors, crews, schedules, safety, quality, materials, and project coordination while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract requirements and project specifications.

The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience in solar construction and understands the challenges of large‑scale projects, including pile installation, tracker systems, site logistics, material management, civil coordination, and schedule management.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Field Operations

• Experience with change orders, RFIs, notices, and schedule‑impact documentation.
• OSHA 30 certification.
• First Aid/CPR certification.
• Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.

Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience. The position will include project‑based travel, per diem, vehicle or vehicle allowance, and additional benefits depending on company policy and project requirements.

Physical & Work Requirements

This position requires regular work on active construction sites and may involve walking over uneven terrain, climbing, standing for extended periods, and exposure to varying weather conditions, construction equipment, noise, dust, and other job‑site hazards.

The Solar Construction Manager must be willing to travel and work extended hours when required to meet project milestones.
