Construction Manager

FindTalent is seeking an experienced Construction Manager on behalf of our client, a leading full-service EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) company specializing in solar utility projects across the United States. This organization is renowned for its integrated engineering solutions, a highly skilled labor force, and an extensive fleet of equipment, having successfully installed over 8 GW of solar infrastructure nationwide. With a strong presence in the Southeast and a commitment to renewable energy, our client continues to drive the solar industry forward.

Position Overview:

The Construction Manager will play a pivotal role in managing the execution of multiple small to large-scale solar utility projects. This role demands proactive leadership to mitigate risks, ensure safety, control costs, and maintain construction schedules. This is a safety-sensitive position requiring 100% travel to project sites across various states, including but not limited to Oklahoma, North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Maryland, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and South Carolina. A per diem is provided during project assignments.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and optimize pre-construction activities for multiple projects.
  2. Lead safety initiatives across all assigned sites, ensuring compliance with company and OSHA standards.
  3. Supervise and coordinate all aspects of engineering, construction, budgeting, and contract administration.
  4. Manage change orders, risk assessments, and quality control.
  5. Conduct on-site inspections before, during, and after construction phases for progress and quality assurance.
  6. Coordinate with contractors and consultants on project deliverables, including scope of work, budgets, submittals, contracts, and permits.
  7. Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and project teams.
  8. Evaluate project constructability, resource allocation, and field status, addressing issues promptly.
  9. Collaborate with partners on project estimates and budget evaluations.
  10. Monitor and manage project timelines from pre-construction through completion.
  11. Review and implement engineering plans and designs.
  12. Approve contractor payment requests and maintain accurate financial records.
  13. Define project scope, construction goals, and stakeholder expectations.
  14. Apply lessons learned from past projects to optimize future performance.
  15. Lead pre-construction meetings and provide clear direction to teams.
  16. Identify potential issues and develop corrective action plans.
  17. Maintain thorough documentation of all project changes and associated costs.

Requirements:

  1. Minimum 5 years of experience in Solar PV Construction.
  2. At least 5 years in a Construction Manager or Site Superintendent role.
  3. Direct experience in the solar industry is mandatory.
  4. EPC project management experience is required.
  5. Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage staff and subcontractors.
  6. Proficiency in reading and interpreting multi-trade construction drawings and specifications.
  7. Strong decision-making skills, ability to multitask, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  8. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams and subcontractors.
  9. High attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Education & Certifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  2. Valid driver’s license is required.

Working Conditions:

  1. This role requires 100% travel to project sites, with per diem provided.
  2. Reliable transportation is essential.
  3. Ability to work outdoors in varying climates.
  4. Physical requirements include the ability to sit, stand, stoop, kneel, and walk for 8-10 hours daily.
  5. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
