Position Responsibilities

Summary: Manage commissioning/startup and warranty activities for utility scale solar power generating facilities.

  1. Provide input for integrated test schedule to support solar system release schedule.
  2. Develop initial commissioning plan and coordinate pre-commissioning activities, including factory acceptance tests.
  3. Work with discipline engineers on interconnection documentation and coordination requirements before and after construction.
  4. Organize site turnover and O&M documentation.
  5. Support warranty requests for completed project sites.
  6. Ensure construction testing and QA documentation are available and assembled into turnover document books for the client.
  7. Coordinate onsite plant commissioning and performance testing.
  8. Supervise field Electrical, Mechanical, Instrument/Controls, SCADA Commissioning Specialists, and Vendor representatives during commissioning, testing, and documentation.
  9. Establish and ensure compliance with safety tagging, lockout, and work permit programs.
  10. Interface with the Owner's Operations Department to schedule O&M training.
  11. Work with Construction Manager to develop the Punch List prior to system/equipment release.
  12. Follow safety procedures, report unsafe conditions, and ensure proper use of materials and equipment.
Education

Position Requirements
  • Must be authorized to work in the US now and in the future.
  • Advanced knowledge in utility scale solar power plant testing for EPC or Utilities in the US.
  • Intermediate knowledge in underground and overhead distribution design, transmission systems, DC systems architecture, and testing.
  • Preferred experience in field construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Knowledge of NFPA/NEC standards, IEEE/IES/API Standards, NETA, and IEEE standards related to solar generation.
  • Familiarity with NERC, ISO, TSO requirements, DCS/SCADA systems, and testing of mechanical and solid-state relaying systems.
  • Strong organizational, planning, decision-making, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Experience with power facility construction and ability to interpret project documents and schedules.
  • Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Understanding of power plant commercial performance.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Minimum 4+ years of relevant experience, including field construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel at short notice; valid driver's license required.
  • Travel requirement: 50%+.
