Job summary

SpaceX in Bastrop, TX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Solar Cell Factory (Starlink) to design, build, and optimize mechanical and automation systems for solar cell manufacturing equipment.

You will own subsystems from concept to high-volume production, perform FMEA, reliability modeling, and contribute to uptime, with opportunities to lead projects and work across production lines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering required; Master's preferred.
• Experience with CAD and FEA software packages is expected.
• 1+ years of mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, or manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

• Own electronics manufacturing subsystems and equipment from design through high-volume production and automation ramp.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
• Test and iterate on products with FMEA, reliability modeling, and stress testing to predict failures and maximize OEE.
• Design production lines including robot end-effector design, process development, control systems, and automation programming.
• Monitor equipment uptime metrics and implement preventive measures to maximize availability.
• Evaluate and manage equipment suppliers to ensure target rate, yield and uptime.
