Syngenta in Des Moines, IA is offering a Soil Spectroscopy and Chemometrics Co-op that blends soil science, spectroscopy, and data science. You will build calibration models, apply preprocessing, and compare chemometric and machine learning approaches to predict soil properties from infrared spectra.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. candidate or advanced student in a related field with spectroscopy/chemometrics research.
• Eligible to work in the U.S. for the duration of the co-op (May–Aug 2027).
• Experience with vibrational spectroscopy data and multivariate calibration.
• Proficiency in R and Python for chemometrics and data science.
• Familiarity with soil spectral libraries and calibration of models.

Responsabilités

• Build and refine calibration models predicting soil properties from infrared spectra.
• Apply preprocessing and evaluate impact on model performance.
• Work with large soil spectral libraries and calibration transfer challenges.
• Develop chemometric and ML approaches for soil property prediction.
• Communicate methods and results to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
