Job summary

NOVO Health Services is seeking a Soiled Linen Separator in a hospital linen processing environment. You will remove soil from bags, sort linen on the belt, prepare items for washing, and help manage carts and slings through the soil room process.

Responsibilities

• Open up bags at the breakout table and send linen up the belt.
• The primary cart mover brings the empty soil cart away from the belt, puts a new cart in area and takes the empty cart to the cart area.
• The bag breaker attendant breaks open the bags.
• Sorts of large pieces: bath blankets, flat sheets, draw sheets and thermals.
• Sorts the second largest pieces: underpants, patient gowns, fitted sheets.
• Handle all rest of the pieces: bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, scrubs.
• Hoist and weigh or staging: pull full slings, weigh, record, and hang.
• Adhere to quality standards in soil sorting and cart cleaning.
• Observe and adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
• Assist and perform other duties as assigned.

POSITION TITLE: Soiled Linen Separator

REPORTS TO: Team Leader and Plant Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Soil Room Attendant is responsible for removing soil from bags, sort and prepare for washing.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Open up bags at the breakout table and send linen up the belt.
• The primary cart mover (the attendant closest to the soil cart) brings the empty soil cart away from the belt, puts a new cart in area and takes the empty cart and pushes it to the cart area.
• The bag breaker attendant breaks open the bags.
• The attendants on the belt perform the following tasks:
  • One attendant sorts of large pieces consisting of bath blankets, flat sheets, draw sheets and thermals.
  • The second attendant sorts the second largest pieces – underpants, patient gowns, and fitted sheets.
  • The third attendant will handle all the rest of the pieces such as bath towels, washcloths, hand towels, and scrubs.
• The last stage of the soil room process is hoist and weigh or staging. The attendant pulls the full slings away as they fill up, puts an empty sling in, weighs the full one, records the information and hangs it.
• Adhere to quality standards in terms of soil sorting and cart cleaning.
• Understand, observe and adhere to all safety procedures and policies.
• Assist and perform other duties as assigned.
