Job Purpose

The CNH Soil and Crop Modeling (SCM) Team develops cutting‑edge simulation technologies that help design and optimize agricultural equipment used around the world. Our team combines expertise in engineering, physics, and computational modeling to simulate how soil and crop materials interact with machine components, enabling faster innovation and more efficient product development.

SCM engineers utilize advanced modeling techniques, including the Discrete Element Method (DEM), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), and Multi‑Body Dynamics (MBD), to evaluate machine performance in virtual environments. These tools allow the team to support concept development, solve complex engineering challenges, and improve equipment designs long before physical testing begins.

As an SCM intern, you will work alongside experienced engineers on real‑world projects, contributing directly to the development of virtual crop and soil models, simulation workflows, and validation activities. Interns are valued members of the team and play an active role in advancing CNH's simulation capabilities and engineering innovation

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and validate virtual crop flow models for baling systems using industry‑standard Discrete Element Method (DEM) and Multi‑Body Dynamics (MBD) simulation software (e.g., Ansys RockyDEM, Altair MotionSolve).
  • Apply programming and API development techniques (e.g., Python, C++) to enhance simulation model physics and improve the representation of crop‑to‑equipment interactions.
  • Perform laboratory measurements of physical and mechanical crop properties, process experimental data, and incorporate findings into crop and equipment simulation models.
  • Expand CNH's library of virtual crop models used to simulate collection, transportation, packaging, and wrapping of crop by round balers.
  • Collaborate with crop flow modeling, design, and test engineering teams to support the design, validation, and continuous improvement of CNH baling equipment.
Experience Required
Preferred Qualifications

Candidates may be pursuing an Associates, Technical, Bachelor’s, or Post‑graduate degree in the following majors or a related field: Agricultural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, Materials Engineering, Biological/Biosystem/Bioresource Engineering, Agronomy

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $23.69 - $25.75 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.)
