Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Virtualization Engineer to support the planning, building, and operations of a large, globally accessed, hybrid cloud computing system.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Development of Virtualized Packages for Mission Baseline Applications
- Work with application testers and mission SMEs to validate mission application behavior
- Incorporate sequencing changes into the app sequencing process
- Identify user application settings to be persisted in a non-persistent VDI environment
- Identify automation opportunities for application sequencing and collaborate with engineering
- Assist virtualization and VDI teams with infrastructure configuration
- Improve backup, Disaster Recovery, and Continuity of Operations
- Document knowledge, designs, test plans, and operational guides efficiently
- Work independently with technical objectives and exercise latitude
- Utilize VMware SDDC products for troubleshooting and tuning
- Apply security patches and software updates regularly
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of Virtualization products and capabilities
Required Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, Perl)
- Experience with VDI technologies like VMware Horizon, Citrix, or RDS
- Experience with Citrix XenApp or similar virtualization tech
- Familiarity with enterprise directory sync tools (Azure AD Connect, Cisco Directory Sync, etc.)
Desired Skills:
- Experience with Windows Desktop and Server OS
- Scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, etc.)
- Experience with non-persistent desktops and profile management solutions
- Knowledge of Active Directory, load balancing, ITIL principles, and architectural frameworks
- Certification like VMware VCA-DCV
- Experience with ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Remedy, etc.)
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of IT experience
