Job summary

CNH Industrial in Oak Brook, IL is seeking a Software Test Engineer II to create and implement test procedures for validating Offboard software on agricultural equipment. You will design and execute tests, analyze results, and maintain reports to ensure quality and traceability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience as a software test engineer or in a related role.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including defect documentation and test reporting.
  • Ability to safely access and work on agricultural equipment in field environments.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting of electrical and software integration issues.
  • Experience developing and executing test cases from system and software requirements.

Job Purpose

The Software Test Engineer II is responsible for creating and implementing test procedures to analyze and ensure quality of software programs.

Key Responsibilities

Perform software validation testing of Offboard software on agricultural equipment in field and bench environments

Analyze and review system software requirements to develop test strategies and plans

Design, develop, and execute test cases and procedures aligned with feature functionality and performance expectations

Analyze test results and failures, perform root cause investigation, and distinguish between test issues and software defects

Create, maintain, and communicate test reports to stakeholders.

Ensure traceability between requirements, test cases, test results, and identified defects

Collaborate with cross-functional Product Validation teams to ensure complete validation coverage

Support coordination of test activities with internal teams and external partners, as required

Identify and contribute to improvements in test processes, methodologies, and tools

Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field

3+ years of experience as a software test engineer or in a related role

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including defect documentation and test reporting

Ability to safely access and work on agricultural equipment in both field and field environments

Demonstrated troubleshooting of electrical and software integration issues

Experience developing and executing test cases based on system and software requirements

  • Wilingness to work in both an office and outdoor environment as needed
Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with agricultural equipment operations and farming practices

Experience operating agricultural equipment in a field setting

Experience with farm management information systems (FMIS) like FieldOps and/or JD Ops Center

Experience with requirements traceability tools (e.g., Polarion, JIRA)

Knowledge of vehicle communication networks and protocols (e.g., CAN, J1939, ISO 11783)

Experience with tools such as CANalyzer and CANoe/Simulink

Pay Transparency

The annual salary for this role is USD $86,625.00 - $132,825.00 plus any applicable bonus (Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as skill, experience and qualification for the role.) For roles open across multiple locations, the salary range indicated refers to the primary location. If a different location is considered, the applicable salary range will be communicated to candidates prior to the first interview.
