Software Test Engineer

Job Description

Node is looking for a Software Test Engineer to provide testing support as a member of an integrated agile project development and testing team. The tester will work with other developers and testers to test custom developed software as required.

The Tester will be responsible for providing input to project release plans from inception through delivery and ongoing operational maintenance. They will analyze and solve complex testing problems and review other developers and tester work products for correctness and adherence to the project design concept and user standards.

The Tester will play a key role for a highly secured system for a government agency. To be successful, the tester should be self-motivated and passionate about solving technical problems. The system facilitates high value financial transactions over the Internet; experience with payment systems, trading systems, or other highly secure transactional systems is highly valuable.

Job Responsibilities

• Analyzing complex requirements and design documents to develop detailed step-by-step manual test cases
• Executing manual test cases; documenting actual results during execution; reviewing the test results and reporting anomalies into the defect tracking database
• Developing new automation scripts and updating existing scripts to meet newly added functionalities
• Executing automated test scripts; reporting execution results and identifying unsuccessful executions
• Executing load/performance testing by running the load test scripts and generating load test execution results
• Tracking defects from creation to closure; documenting defect descriptions and working with developers to reproduce
• Deploying software to test environments and monitoring server logs during testing to identify errors or unexpected log entries
• Participating in test case peer review meetings and providing feedback to ensure test cases meet client requirements and test conditions
• Assisting test lead with release test plan, generating RTM, maintaining regression test database, and creating test reports at the end of each testing phase
• Assisting the test lead with internal quality assurance checks on all deliverables to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to client standards
• Integrating automated tests into the CI/CD pipeline to enable continuous testing and delivery
• Collaborating with DevOps to ensure seamless automation within build and deployment processes
• Ensuring comprehensive test coverage through automated test cases
• Providing assistance to business analysts with business/functional requirements and to developers with technical requirements

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field (4 years experience in lieu of degree)

Skills and Experience

• 5 years total IT experience
• 3+ years of experience as software test engineer
• Proven experience as an SDET, QA Engineer, or in a similar role with a focus on test automation
• Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber)
• Strong knowledge of Software Testing Lifecycle/Testing Methodologies
• Ability to analyze complex requirements and design documents to create detailed test cases and scripts
• Experience in quality centers or similar test management tools
• Experience in Unified Functional Testing or similar automation scripting tools like Selenium
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts and frameworks for functional, regression, and performance testing
• Basic knowledge of Structured Query Language
• Experience with configuration management and version control tools such as Atlassian suite, JIRA and/or Subversion
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work productively in a dynamic, priority-shifting, deadline-driven environment
• Excellent organizational, presentation, and business analysis skills
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)

Desired Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of LoadRunner
• Basic knowledge of VB Scripting
• Experience in creating/editing technical documents and user manuals for new/upgraded software

Security Clearance Requirements

• Must be a U.S. citizen OR Permanent Resident Alien (Green card holder and NOT H1 Visa holder)
• Ability to obtain an IRS MBI (Minimum Background Investigation) Security Clearance from the Federal Agency
• Active IRS MBI Clearance is highly desirable
