Job summary

Space Ground System Solutions, Inc. (SGSS), a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a software test engineer onsite at our Blossom Point Tracking Facility in Welcome, MD.

The role involves system- and software-level testing using Neptune software in a dynamic, multi-discipline environment. You will analyze requirements, develop and run test cases, automate smoke and regression tests, maintain test plans, and support software releases.

Qualifications

• US citizen and eligible for DoD Secret clearance.
• Minimum 3 years' experience as a test engineer.
• Experience designing, developing, and executing test cases.
• Experience with cloud computing concepts.
• Experience with Linux operating systems and the command line.
• Experience with test automation tools.
• Experience writing and executing test scripts (e.g., Python).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Job description

Space Ground System Solutions, a Parsons company, has an immediate full-time opening for a software test engineer working onsite at our customer site located in Welcome, MD. The position will be responsible for software and system level testing using Neptune software at the Blossom Point Tracking Facility. This position requires a motivated individual who seeks to work in a team environment with complex systems and is comfortable working in a dynamic environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Analyze requirements, documentation, and confer with internal stakeholders
• Verification and tracking of new features
• Create and execute automated test scripts to aid in smoke and regression testing
• Create, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test procedures for feature and regression testing
• Troubleshoot software system issues and work with other developers and testers to resolve test anomalies
• Work as an effective team member across multiple disciplines (e.g. systems engineering, software development, Ops Support)
• Support the creation of new software releases and system deployments
• Tracking software patching and release versions
• Provide On-Call support of operational systems
• Assist in preparing, providing direction, and reviewing relevant documentation to include Software Development Plans (SDPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and generating CM reports
• Work closely with system engineers, government security team and leadership to ensure software design, compliance, and schedule adherence

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a US citizen
• Must meet eligibility requirements associated with obtaining a DoD Secret clearance
• Minimum of three (3) years' experience working as a test engineer
• Proven ability to identify and troubleshoot potential software defects
• Proven ability to effectively communicate with developers to investigate and resolve test anomalies
• Experience designing, developing, and executing test cases
• Experience with cloud computing concepts
• Experience with Linux based operating systems and the command line interface
• Experience with test automation tools
• Experience writing and executing test scripts (e.g., Python)
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills

PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience with performance and stress testing concepts and familiarity with performance measurement tools (e.g., Prometheus, )
• Familiarity with Satellite Systems, Satellite Operations, and/or Aerospace Engineering concepts
• Familiarity with continuous integration techniques and technologies
• Familiarity with Agile development concepts
• Familiarity with Satellite Ground Hardware (FEPs, Antenna Controllers, Crypto, etc.)
• Experience with Atlassian Software Development and Collaboration Tools (JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket etc.)
• Experience with Object-Orientated Development concepts
• Experience interacting with relational databases (e.g., INFLUXDB)
