Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support verification and airworthiness qualification for a next-generation Army aviation platform. You will lead testing efforts across SIL, ground, and flight tests, evaluating contractor artifacts and ensuring compliance with aviation software standards.

With 5+ years of relevant experience and an active Secret clearance, you will guide government reviews and audits, and drive improvement of test oversight across the acquisition

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Active Secret clearance.
• Experience evaluating software FQT in a defense acquisition environment.
• Deep familiarity with aviation software standards (DO-178C/DO-254).
• Experience building technical oversight processes and evaluating SIL testing procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee FQT and high-level tests to ensure DO-178C/DO-254 objectives.
• Evaluate software life cycle data and verification artifacts for airworthiness.
• Provide government oversight for SRR and FQT milestone reviews.
• Support SOI audits to ensure development processes meet airworthiness objectives.
• Oversee transition of software releases from SIL to flight test environments.
• Evaluate verification for MOSA and FACE conformance.

Software Test Engineer

Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Test Engineer to support technical verification and software airworthiness qualification for a critical, next-generation Army aviation platform.

This is an opportunity to join a high-tempo, dynamic development program at a crucial inflection point. As the program transitions from initial development into intensive test phases-including System Integration Laboratory (SIL) verification, ground test, flight test, and preparation for full-rate production-you will operate on the front line of software airworthiness evaluation. In this role, you will evaluate contractor verification efforts, review life cycle data artifacts, and ensure compliance across advanced avionics and mission systems

Duties

• Oversee OEM and supplier Formal Qualification Testing (FQT) and high-level requirements-based testing to ensure compliance with DO-178C and DO-254 objectives.
• Evaluate contractor-delivered software life cycle data and verification artifacts for completeness and airworthiness compliance.
• Provide government oversight for milestone reviews, including software Test Readiness Reviews (TRR) and FQT.
• Support Stage of Involvement (SOI) audits to assure software and Airborne Electronic Hardware (AEH) development processes meet airworthiness objectives.
• Oversee the transition of incremental software releases from SIL environments into active flight test environments.
• Evaluate contractor testing efforts supporting Army Airworthiness Release (AWR) and Safety of Flight (SOF) compliance through continuous test-fix-test cycles.
• Evaluate verification of next-generation software architectures, including MOSA compliance and FACE conformance.
• Iteratively improve test oversight processes for maximum efficiency across the acquisition lifecycle.
• Develop briefing materials, distilling complex technical data into clear recommendations for senior leadership.
• Proactively identify software integration risks and resolve testing bottlenecks across the supply chain.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Active Secret clearance
• Experience providing technical oversight and evaluating software FQT in a defense acquisition environment.
• Deep familiarity with aviation software standards (specifically DO-178C and DO-254).
• Experience building technical oversight processes and evaluating SIL testing procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree is preferred.
• Experience with next-generation military aviation acquisition programs
• Familiarity with Agile software development frameworks, specifically Disciplined Agile Delivery (DAD), and iterative test methodologies.
• Familiarity with Multi-Core Processor (MCP) and Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) certification objectives.
• Experience auditing against FACE and MOSA directives.
• Experience leading or working within Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
• Advanced knowledge of Army airworthiness, system safety, and materiel release processes.
