Torch Technologies, Inc. in Huntsville, AL, is seeking a Software Engineer, Journeyman, to join the Directorate Support Team. This role focuses on DevSecOps practices to deliver high-quality software with CI/CD, automated testing, and secure coding standards in support of AFLCMC/GBE.

Onsite work, agile processes, and collaboration with a federal-government program team are essential. The ideal candidate has strong experience in software development, software architecture, and containerization

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizenship required.
• Bachelor's or master's degree in a related field with at least three years of experience in the DoW, three of which must be in the DoW.
• Or seven years of directly related experience with proper DoD-related certifications, five of which must be in the DoW.
• Active Secret Clearance required to start.

Responsibilities

• Preparing, reviewing, and analyzing documentation for planning, design, coding, support, and test.
• Evaluating requirements, solutions, and proposed changes.
• Improving operations via systems and process analysis and policy recommendations.
• Advising on software procurements by researching and documenting vendor results, configurations, and testing.
• Developing software solutions by studying requirements and following an Agile SDLC.
• Evaluating technologies like containerization, Kubernetes, IaC, APIs, and CI/CD; reinforcing cybersecurity policies.

Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Engineer, Journeyman to join the Directorate Support Team. DevSecOps combines the best practices and methodologies of software development (Dev), cybersecurity (Sec), and information-technology operations (Ops) to continuously provide quality capability. It enables CDTs to increase their deliveries' velocity, quality, security, and maintainability with reduced risk. Includes configuration/change management, software architecture, performance engineering, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) via automated: static code analysis (quality & security), testing (unit, functional, security, performance/load), application builds, and delivery/deployment. This position supports AFLCMC/GBE.

This position requires a highly motivated individual to perform work that applies a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of Agile-based software engineering with responsibilities such as, but not limited to:

• Preparing/creating, reviewing, and analyzing all types of documentation for: Planning, Design, Coding, Support, and Test; Source code, configuration files and engineering resolution support.

• Determining operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution development, and proposed solutions.

• Improving operations by conducting systems and process analysis plus recommending changes in policies and procedures.

• Advising (licensed) software procurements by researching, analyzing, comparing, and documenting results of vendors and products, which may include installation, configuration and testing (of products).

• Providing information and recommendations by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service-related issues.

• Developing software solutions by studying requirements/user stories, user/system/data needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, data usage, and work processes, investigating problem areas, and following an Agile software development lifecycle.

• Evaluating software technologies such as containerization and the use of Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, configuration as code, micro services, standard application program interfaces (API), continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD), and maximizing the automation of the software development lifecycle (SDLC); and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/cybersecurity policies, principles, and practices to the delivery of application software services.

Required Qualifications:

• U.S. Citizenship is required.

• Bachelor's or master's Degree in a related field and at least three years of experience in the respective technical/professional discipline being performed, three of which must be in the DoW.

• OR, seven years of directly related experience with proper certifications, five of which must be in the DoW.

• Active Secret Clearance Required (required to start).

• Atlassian Tool suite.

• Agile Development methodologies.

• Cloud Certification, relevant to position.

• CompTIA Security + Certification.
