Job summary

Selby Jennings is seeking a Credit Associate for its Software & Technology team. The role targets individuals with 2–4 years of venture debt and related buy-side experience who can contribute to underwriting, origination, and business development.

You will build financial models, assess opportunities, and help structure transactions while engaging with investment committees and senior team members. This position emphasizes rigorous analysis and clear communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Admin, or related.
• 2–4 years of venture debt, investment banking, private equity or private credit with a focus on software & technology.
• Buy-side experience, specifically lower-middle market direct lending preferred.
• Strong financial modeling skills.
• Excellent verbal and written presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess new investment opportunities through comprehensive due diligence and detailed credit analysis of potential deals.
• Build and maintain advanced financial models to project cash flows, evaluate risk, and support strategic investment decisions.
• Participate in structuring transactions, negotiate key terms such as interest rates and covenants, and oversee the negotiation and closing process.
• Track and analyze the performance of current investments.
• Prepare in-depth written analyses and present recommendations to investment committees.
