Job summary

Torch Technologies is seeking a Software Systems Engineer to support the Air & Missile Business Unit in Huntsville, AL. You will develop system and software requirements, MBSE artifacts, and traceability, coordinating with developers, testers, and integration teams to ensure correct behavior of complex systems.

The role emphasizes MBSE, use-case development, Agile practices, and strong documentation, with a requirement for US citizenship and an active Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship required.
• Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) field.
• 5–8 years of relevant systems engineering, software engineering, or related technical experience.
• Experience working with software-intensive systems (distributed applications, embedded systems, real-time systems, or mission-critical platforms).
• Experience with requirements analysis and decomposition, systems modeling, and software/system verification concepts.
• Experience creating/updating use cases, activity diagrams, interface descriptions, or engineering artifacts.
• Familiarity with Agile development practices and Jira/Confluence.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and clear written/presentational communication.
• Active Secret security clearance and ability to maintain it.
• Ability to work onsite as required by program/customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Support development and maintenance of requirements, interface definitions, system models, and verification criteria for complex software-intensive systems.
• Develop and update use cases, activity diagrams, MBSE artifacts, and other systems engineering artifacts.
• Decompose system requirements into software-level requirements and document traceability and acceptance criteria.
• Coordinate with software developers, integration teams, and test engineers to clarify expected system behavior and investigate technical issues.
• Support system integration, interface analysis, and verification activities for distributed or interconnected systems.
• Participate in Agile planning meetings, technical reviews, and working groups; prepare technical documentation and briefings for stakeholders.
