Job summary

ECS Corporate Services is seeking an experienced Software Systems Engineer to provide remote support for cloud-related application and infrastructure migration under the NIH NEAT program. The role focuses on operating system and network hardware, service delivery, and modernization efforts for NIH enterprise applications.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Computer Science or Information Security and 8+ years in IT infrastructure, software and large-scale web/mobile apps, with a strong background

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support in day-to-day operations on network hardware and OS, monitor performance, ensure service quality.
• Troubleshoot network problems at physical and logical levels with protocols.
• Participate in planning design and implementation of new network infrastructure and OS for voice/data networks.
• Maintain network standards including TCP/IP.
• Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff.
• Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.

Job description

ECS is seeking an experienced Software Systems Engineer to work remotely providing support for cloud-related application and infrastructure migration and modernization efforts performed under this contract for NIH NIAID Enabling and Advancing Technologies (NEAT). This engagement supports the External Enterprise Software Development Support Services program area which includes the development, support, and maintenance of NIH enterprise applications managed by the Software Engineering Branch.

This position is contingent upon [contract win]. Salary Range: $130,000 - $170,000.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide direct support in the day-to-day operations on network hardware and operating systems including the evaluation of system utilization, monitoring response time and primary support for detection and correction of operational problems.
• Troubleshoot at the physical level of the network, working with network measurement hardware and software, as well as physical checking and testing of hardware devices at the logical level working with communication protocols.
• Participate in planning design, technical review and implementation for new network infrastructure hardware and network operating systems for voice and data communication networks.
• Maintain network infrastructure standards including network communication protocols such as TCP/IP.
• Provide technical consultation, training and support to IT staff as designated by the government.
• Diagnose and resolve complex communication problems.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security or related field . Minimum 8+ years of experience supporting IT infrastructure, software, systems, and applications, including support teams and ensuring quality of service operations. 3+ years of hands‑on experience with large scalable web and mobile based applications. Experience performing investigation, analysis, recommendation, configuration, installation, and testing of new network hardware and software. Experience installing, configuring, and integrating custom solutions, COTS, GOTS, and FOSS into a larger collection of services and systems.

Travel within the Washington DC Metro Area, and CONUS as needed.
