Job summary

Quotient (A VTG Company) in Maryland seeks a Software Systems Engineer to define specifications for complex operating software and modify existing applications. The role covers design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation, with emphasis on system maintenance and large networks.

You will work across engineering releases, evaluate software products, and support mathematical and scientific software packages. Travel up to 10% and a Secret clearance preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven expertise in complex operating system (OS) and software programming.
• Hands-on capability utilizing engineering releases and vendor utilities to maintain or modify enterprise applications.
• Practical experience supporting and maintaining large-scale telecommunications networks.
• Experience working with and maintaining advanced mathematical and scientific software packages.
• Clearance: Secret preferred

Position Overview

The Software Systems Engineer formulates and defines specifications for complex operating software programming applications and modifies or maintains complex existing applications using engineering releases and manufacturer utilities. The engineer designs, codes, tests, debugs, and documents these programs. Furthermore, this role provides overall operating-system maintenance (including sophisticated file maintenance routines, managing large telecommunications networks, computer accounting, and advanced mathematical/scientific software packages), assists in all phases of systems programming, and evaluates new and existing software products.
