Blue Origin in Seattle, WA is seeking a System Safety engineer to mentor engineers in developing embedded safety software and to drive safety analyses and compliance across programs.

The role involves reviewing software processes, performing risk characterization, and championing a culture of safety while collaborating with integrated supply chain, test operations, safety, quality, and mission assurance teams.

• Minimum of a B.Sc. degree in aerospace engineering or related field.
• 5+ years software engineering experience developing embedded software in a safety industry, with 2+ years performing compliance audits or developing plans to standards.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

This role will mentor engineers in developing safety critical software to avoid hazards. Safety engineering experience isn't required; but candidates need to have developed embedded safety software and demonstrate a deep understanding of software engineering, not just programming and testing. You will train engineers, review software processes, perform safety analysis and identify requirements, audit program compliance to safety objectives, perform risk characterization of open problems, and champion safety.We hire for technical ambition and the ability to build trust.
