Job summary

VTG Defense in Chantilly, VA seeks a Software Expert III to serve as a trusted technical advisor on software architecture, design, and lifecycle strategy across complex programs. You will lead government reviews and advise leadership on risks, debt, scalability, and sustainability.

You will mentor junior staff, participate in executive briefings, and support acquisition activities. A TS/SCI with Poly and a Bachelor's degree are required, with a Master's preferred and 10+ years’ experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's preferred.
• 10+ years of experience supporting software-intensive systems or enterprise platforms.
• TS/SCI with Poly required.
• Deep understanding of modern software architectures and development lifecycles.
• Proven experience providing technical oversight and advisory support (non-developer role).

VTG is looking for a Software Expert in Chantilly, VA. Software Expert III serves as a trusted technical advisor to government leadership, providing strategic guidance and oversight across complex softwareintensive programs in a SETA capacity.

What will you do?

• Provide seniorlevel advisory support on software architecture, design, and lifecycle strategy
• Lead government reviews of contractor software approaches, roadmaps, and deliverables
• Advise program leadership on software risks, technical debt, scalability, and sustainability
• Support development of software governance frameworks, standards, and evaluation criteria

Do you have what it takes?

• Preferred Qualifications: Experience supporting IC, DoD, or DOJ missioncritical programs, Experience advising on largescale or multivendor software programs, Familiarity with Agile at scale (SAFe), DevSecOps, and cloudbased architectures

This position is contingent upon contract award.

Pay Range

VTG's estimated starting pay range is $100,000 - $215,000 annually, which is a general guideline for the geographic location. When extending an offer, VTG also considers work experience, education, skill level, market considerations and may possibly include contractual requirements which may cause an offer to fall outside of this range.
