Job summary

SegPay is seeking an experienced Software System Architect to shape the architecture and evolution of our payment gateway and credit card processing platforms. This hands-on technical leadership role partners with Product, Business Analysts, and Engineering to translate complex financial requirements into secure, scalable solutions while remaining closely involved in code.

The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of software development, deep PHP/LAMP expertise, and a proven record in credit card

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience as Software Architect or technical lead.

Responsibilities

• Design, architect, and evolve our payment gateway and credit card transaction-processing platforms
• Create secure and scalable solutions supporting credit card and ACH authorization, settlement, and reconciliation
• Translate business, financial, and payment-processing requirements into technical designs and architecture
• Provide technical direction to developers on architecture, programming standards, and best practices
• Remain hands-on with development, code reviews, testing, and troubleshooting
• Mentor developers on architecture, design patterns, and secure coding practices
• Participate throughout the development lifecycle, including design, development, QA, production support, and releases
• Partner with DevOps on CI/CD, deployment automation, monitoring, and production support
• Help ensure solutions meet security and compliance requirements, including PCI DSS
• Support and enhance legacy gateway systems

SegPay is looking for an experienced Software System Architect to help shape the architecture and continued evolution of our payment gateway and credit card processing platforms.

This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for someone who can see the big picture without stepping away from the code. You'll partner with Product, Business Analysts, and Engineering to translate complex business and financial requirements into secure, scalable, and reliable solutions.

If you bring deep LAMP/PHP expertise, a strong background in payment processing, and the ability to lead technical direction while remaining hands‑on, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

• Design, architect, and evolve our payment gateway and credit card transaction-processing platforms
• Create secure and scalable solutions supporting credit card and ACH authorization, settlement, and reconciliation

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Experience in a Software Architect or technical lead role
• Strong background in credit card processing and payment gateway systems
• Experience with transaction processing, including credit card and ACH payment methods
• Proven experience architecting and building systems using the LAMP stack: Linux, Apache, MySQL/MariaDB, and PHP
• Strong hands‑on PHP development experience
• Experience with OOD/OOP, MVC frameworks, and common design patterns
• Experience with Agile development practices, Git, testing methodologies, BitBucket, and Jira
• Experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD and automated deployment
• Ability to provide technical leadership and direction to a development team
