Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Software, to lead functional breakdown, requirements development, and failure analysis for low voltage power management subsystems and ART solutions.

You will create and maintain functional and non-functional requirements in the Sub-System Technical Specification (SSTS) and Behavioral Test Specifications (BTS), using Behavioral Driven Development, and coordinate with systems engineers and hardware teams to ensure alignment on

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronic/Software/Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5 years of experience as Senior/Embedded Software Engineer or related role.
  • 3 years of automotive engineering experience including embedded controls, requirements development, architecture development, and systems engineering.
  • 2 years of experience defining and troubleshooting hardware-embedded interactions; and developing system/subsystem requirements.
  • 1 year of design experience with automotive low voltage electrical power components, controls, subsystems, and architecture.

  • Lead functional breakdown, requirements development, and failure analysis for low voltage power management subsystems.
  • Create and maintain functional and non-functional requirements in SSTS and BTS using BDD.
  • Coordinate with systems engineers and hardware teams for interface and performance alignment.
  • Lead triad meetings to develop solution requirements and test cases for quality software growth.
  • Support scrum team members in decomposing and understanding requirements as needed.

DUTIES : Lead functional breakdown, requirements development, and failure analysis for low voltage power management related subsystems and ART solutions. Create and maintain functional and non-functional requirements in the Sub-System Technical Specification (SSTS) and Behavioral Test Specifications (BTS), using Behavioral Driven Development (BDD) methodologies. Direct subsystem design with uniform, holistic solutions across diverse vehicle architectures to reduce complexity. Coordinate with systems engineers and hardware teams to ensure alignment on interface and performance requirements. Lead triad meetings for development of solution requirements and test cases to enable quality software creation. Support the scrum team members in the decomposition and understanding of the solution or subsystem requirements as needed. Hybrid Work Policy - 3 days In-office, 2 days remote - Must be able to report to local office.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study and Five (5) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, Assistant Engineer, related occupation. OR Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study and Three (3) years of experience as a Senior Software Engineer, Embedded Software Engineer, Assistant Engineer, related occupation. Three (3) years of experience in the following: Automotive engineering experience including embedded controls, requirements development, architecture development, and systems engineering. Two (2) years of experience in the following: Defining and troubleshooting interactions between hardware and embedded controls; and Developing requirements at the system or subsystem level. One (1) year of experience in the following: Design experience with automotive low voltage electric power related components, controls, subsystems, and architecture.
