RTX in Massachusetts seeks a Software Safety Engineer II for the Land & Air Defense Systems (LADS) System Safety team in Tewksbury, MA. You will analyze embedded software for safety compliance and collaborate with software teams, government authorities, and program management to ensure safe, reliable software builds.

The role emphasizes DO- and DoD standards, safety reporting, and cross-disciplinary understanding of product architecture.

Qualifications

Typically requires a STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of engineering or data analysis experience.
Experience with Computer Science, Safety Engineering, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical or Firmware Engineering.

Responsibilities

Analyze engineering software and/or firmware in accordance with MIL-STD-882E, JSSSEH, AOP-52, and other relevant standards.
Review and analyze embedded software code with software development teams.
Collaborate with Program Management and government authorities from startup through deployment to gain concurrence with software builds.
Assist with Software and/or Firmware analyses.
Participate in the Software System Safety Program and interface with customers, program offices, subcontractors, and vendors.
Assist with the preparation of Safety Assessment Reports and Safety Program Briefs for customer approval.
Assist with software safety technical reviews.
Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
Collaborate across disciplines to understand product architecture and design.
