Job summary

Stevenson Search Partners is seeking a Software Quality Assurance Staff Engineer to advance testing for instrument software and data-analysis workflows. You will design traceable test cases, validate end-to-end workflows, and collaborate with software, hardware, and data teams to ensure product quality in a regulated environment.

The role emphasizes automated testing, SDLC mastery, and the use of AI-assisted tools to accelerate test design and validation across complex data pipelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10–15+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience, preferably in life sciences, medical devices, or other regulated environments.
• Background in testing instrument software, data analysis applications, or integrated systems.
• Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), QA methodologies, and experience working in Agile/Scrum environments with frequent release cycles.
• Proficient in testing automation tools (TestComplete, Ranorex, Squish), Python or other scripting languages, version control systems (Git), and CI/CD tools (Jenkins).
• Experience executing software verification and validation plans, including documentation of test procedures, reports, and results, and preparing complex data sets to validate system logic, error handling, and workflows.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-quality, detailed, and traceable test cases aligned with software requirements and user stories for instrument software applications, ensuring traceability between requirements, test cases, and validation results in compliance with quality system procedures and regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 13485/IVDR).
• Validate end-to-end system workflows from instrument data generation through data analysis and reporting, identifying, isolating, and documenting defects with sufficient detail to enable efficient resolution.
• Review software requirements and provide early, actionable feedback to improve testability and coverage while collaborating with software, hardware, and data teams to drive product quality and system reliability.
• Design and execute automated test frameworks for cross-system software using Python for data preparation and validation of system logic, workflows, and defect fixes.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot and Claude Code) to improve test design, accelerate automation development, and enhance overall software quality.
• Apply strong technical judgment, analytical problem-solving, and attention to detail across test design, execution, documentation, and validation.
