IT Project Manager II - Warehouse Control System Software
The Role
A leading global warehouse automation and intralogistics organization is looking for an IT Project Manager II to join its Customer Service team in the Atlanta area. The position will focus on the delivery of software modernizations, upgrades and implementation projects across an established network of highly automated distribution facilities.
As IT Project Manager II, you will take responsibility for the detailed preparation and delivery of warehouse automation software solutions, managing projects through design, implementation, testing, commissioning and final delivery.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who combines software implementation experience with a strong understanding of warehouse automation, and who is comfortable taking ownership of technically complex, customer-facing projects ranging $1-10M in value.
The Responsibilities
- Manage warehouse automation software projects from initial definition through implementation, testing and delivery.
- Work directly with customers to clarify requirements, technical details, interfaces and project scope.
- Coordinate software planning, development, testing, commissioning and site implementation activities.
- Review technical and functional specifications and translate project requirements into clear deliverables for internal teams.
- Develop and coordinate test plans covering factory testing, internal testing and customer acceptance testing.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing and other software validation activities.
- Coordinate the site implementation of software solutions, including acceptance testing, troubleshooting and customer support.
- Manage integration and interface topics between warehouse automation software and surrounding customer systems.
- Coordinate with mechanical, electrical, controls and software engineering teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with software suppliers and third-party technology partners where required.
- Track software planning, development, testing and commissioning timelines and communicate project status to customers and senior stakeholders.
- Identify deviations from the agreed project scope and clearly communicate their impact on delivery.
- Maintain customer-specific software documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support and guide other team members involved in the successful delivery of software projects.
The Requirements
- 3+ years of intralogistics automation software and process design experience.
- Previous experience within software implementation, professional services, IT project management or software project delivery.
- A strong understanding of warehouse automation and complex material-flow processes.
- Knowledge of WMS, WCS/SRC or similar warehouse automation software architecture.
- Experience working with software interfaces, integration and communication between different systems.
- Understanding of automated storage, Goods-to-Person, picking, sortation and other warehouse technologies.
- Experience coordinating software development, testing, commissioning and implementation activities.
- Strong customer-facing communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- The ability to coordinate several technical disciplines while maintaining control of project timelines and scope.
- An understanding of KANBAN and Agile methodologies.
- A Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 30% across the USA, with occasional international travel to Europe.
- Existing authorization to work in the United States.
