Job summary

Tangram Flex is seeking a Software Language Engineer to design, implement, and maintain a domain-specific language for engineering platforms, emphasizing scalability and user experience for external clients.

The role involves building language features, runtime updates, and tools/IDE integrations, with a focus on secure, DoD-aligned software development. Dayton-based with some travel and hybrid work options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computational Linguistics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience and deep knowledge in syntax, semantics, and morphology.
• Familiarity with parser generators, compiler toolchains, software and system architecture design.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, and C++.
• Familiarity with software development best practices, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Ability to obtain or possess a current DoD Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship required.
• Work is based in Dayton, Ohio with periodic days at WPAFB; travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with client and industry teams to gather requirements and translate needs into the language standard.
• Translate client engineering needs into language features and runtime updates.
• Integrate language technologies with defense platforms for interoperability and security compliance.
• Build language to support interface with radio frequency components.
• Refine the hierarchical language design to maximize code reuse and configurable parameters.
• Ensure the language supports counter engagement and counter surveillance use cases.
• Add language and runtime features to support integrations of various waveform sources.
• Document designs, workflows, and best practices for internal and external stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
