Role Mission Statement
The Software Integrity Specialist applies deep expertise in software supply chain integrity, Software Composition Analysis (SCA), and open source license compliance to educate, inform, and guide the market. This role ensures FossID publishes authentic, technically credible content that helps customers and prospects confidently manage software risk, while strengthening FossID’s position as a trusted authority in software integrity.
Position Summary
The Software Integrity Specialist is a subject‑matter expert responsible for developing high‑value content and communications grounded in real‑world experience with software supply chain security, open source software governance, and SCA tooling. This role focuses on creating content that is genuinely useful to engineering, security, OSPO, and legal audiences, helping them understand and solve practical challenges related to vulnerabilities, licensing, and SBOM management.
While this role sits within the Marketing organization, its primary function is not promotional. Instead, it serves as a technical authority that collaborates across Marketing, Sales, Product, and Customer Success to ensure FossID’s content, messaging, and educational materials reflect real customer needs, technical accuracy, and market relevance.
The Software Integrity Specialist plays a critical role in shaping FossID’s external thought leadership and internal enablement by translating complex technical topics into clear, actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
Domain Expertise and Content Development
- Apply hands‑on experience in software supply chain integrity, SCA, and open source compliance to develop original, technically accurate content.
- Create written and presentation‑based materials, including articles, whitepapers, technical explainers, webinars, and conference presentations.
- Contribute to content covering open source scanning, vulnerability management, license compliance, SBOM creation and usage, and emerging industry standards.
- Ensure all content reflects practical realities faced by software producers and suppliers.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Work with the Marketing team to plan, develop, publish, and distribute content through appropriate channels.
- Partner with Sales to equip solution advisors with accurate, credible materials that support consultative selling and buyer education.
- Collaborate with Customer Success to align content with real customer challenges, adoption patterns, and best practices.
- Engage with Product Management to ensure technical accuracy, alignment with product capabilities, and consistency with roadmap direction.
Market Education and Thought Leadership
- Serve as a visible subject‑matter expert representing FossID’s perspective on software integrity and compliance.
- Participate in webinars, customer briefings, partner sessions, and industry events as a technical speaker or presenter.
- Monitor trends in open source security, regulatory requirements, and software supply chain risk to inform content themes and messaging.
Internal Enablement and Alignment
- Provide guidance and feedback on technical messaging used across marketing, sales, and partner communications.
- Help ensure consistent terminology, framing, and accuracy across FossID’s external and internal materials.
- Support internal training efforts by contributing domain expertise and educational content.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Security, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience working with Software Composition Analysis, open source software, or software supply chain security.
Technical Expertise
- Strong understanding of open source software scanning methodologies and tooling.
- Practical experience with vulnerability identification, prioritization, and remediation workflows.
- Deep familiarity with open source licenses and compliance obligations.
- Working knowledge of SBOM standards, generation, and usage in real‑world environments.
Communication Skills
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical topics clearly and concisely.
- Strong verbal and presentation skills, including comfort presenting to technical and executive audiences.
- Ability to tailor messaging for different people, including engineering leaders, DevOps teams, OSPOs, and IP/legal stakeholders.
