Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and troubleshoot edge compute and on-prem infrastructure for DoD labs/tests.
• Stand up hypervisor, VM, networking, and storage environments with proper resource allocation.
• Deploy Kubernetes/container platforms (Docker/Podman/OpenShift) to support services.
• Install/configure Linux OS, services, drivers, runtimes.
• Support GPU-enabled infrastructure, drivers, container integration, and workload placement.
• Develop automation/config-management for repeatable deployment and sustainment.
• Integrate software infra with IP addressing, VLANs, routing, and firewall paths.
• Troubleshoot across hardware, hypervisors, storage, Linux, containers, networking, and automation.
• Maintain technical documentation for configurations and procedures.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking a Software Infrastructure Engineer to support edge compute infrastructure, virtualization, container orchestration, storage, automation, and software platform sustainment within a Department of Defense test, integration, and evaluation environment. Unlike traditional cloud-focused software infrastructure roles, this position is focused on on-premises and edge compute environments that require hands-on infrastructure implementation, platform configuration, and long-term operational support.

This position is responsible for building, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the infrastructure required to support software workloads, containerized applications, GPU-enabled services, and lab-based integration efforts. The selected candidate will help stand up and sustain hypervisor environments, storage environments, Kubernetes/container infrastructure, automation workflows, and supporting network dependencies.

The role requires a hybrid skillset across Linux administration, virtualization, storage, containerization, Kubernetes, automation, platform operations, and software infrastructure support. Experience with edge compute, on-premises infrastructure, GPU-enabled platforms, Kubernetes, container runtimes, hypervisors, storage systems, secure lab environments, or DoD test and integration environments is highly desired.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot edge compute and on-premises software infrastructure supporting DoD lab, test, integration, and evaluation environments
• Stand up and sustain hypervisor, virtual machine, virtual networking, and storage environments, including resource allocation, storage mappings, shared data, repositories, and supporting management components
• Deploy and sustain Kubernetes and containerized infrastructure using technologies such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift, or similar platforms to support software services and platform workloads
• Install, configure, and troubleshoot Linux operating systems, system services, drivers, container runtimes, and supporting software dependencies
• Support GPU-enabled infrastructure, including driver installation, version compatibility, container integration, resource scheduling, and workload placement
• Develop and maintain automation and configuration management solutions for repeatable infrastructure deployment, patching, validation, and sustainment using Git-based repositories, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, artifact tracking, and version control
• Integrate software infrastructure with network dependencies, including IP addressing, VLANs, routing, firewall paths, and end-to-end connectivity
• Troubleshoot issues across hardware, hypervisors, storage, Linux systems, containers, Kubernetes services, networking, automation workflows, and hosted software components
• Maintain technical documentation, including system configurations, storage and network mappings, deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, validation steps, and sustainment procedures

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

Education/Licensure/Credentials

Required:

• Bachelor's degree in related fields such as computer science, computer engineering, information systems, software engineering or a closely related discipline
• Security+ (DoD IAT Level II) or ability to meet requirements within three months of employment
• This position requires an existing U.S. Government DoD granted security clearance/eligibility at the final Secret level, and a favorably adjudicated T5/T5R (or equivalent) background investigation. Individuals must maintain the necessary security requirements for continued employment. U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred

• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA), CompTIA Linux+, or equivalent Linux certification
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD), or equivalent Kubernetes/container certification
• VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent virtualization/platform certification

Experience

Required:

• Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressively responsible experience supporting software infrastructure, systems engineering, Linux administration, virtualization, storage, containerization, Kubernetes, automation, DevOps, or secure test environment sustainment within a DoD, enterprise, lab, test, or other complex technical environment
• Hands-on experience building, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting Linux systems, virtual environments, storage, container platforms, network dependencies, system services, and application-supporting infrastructure
• Experience deploying and supporting hypervisors, virtual machines, virtual networking, Kubernetes, containers, orchestration platforms, storage mappings, and infrastructure management components
• Experience developing and managing automation, scripting, configuration management, and deployment workflows using tools such as Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform, Git-based repositories, CI/CD pipelines, GitLab, Jenkins, or similar technologies
• Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and platform issues and maintaining technical documentation, including configuration records, deployment procedures, diagrams, validation steps, and troubleshooting or engineering support records

Preferred

• Experience supporting edge compute, on-premises infrastructure, GPU-enabled systems, AI/ML infrastructure, Kubernetes-based platforms, or containerized software environments
• Experience with Morpheus/KVM, VMware, Hyper-V, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker, Podman, Run, ClearML, PaletteAI, storage platforms, artifact repositories, or similar infrastructure and platform technologies
• Experience supporting secure, disconnected, classified, air-gapped, controlled, or highly regulated environments where commercial cloud or standard development practices must be adapted for local infrastructure
• Experience supporting DoD, Navy, NIWC Pacific, lab, test, integration, C4I, C5ISR, or operational evaluation environments
