As a Software Factory Engineer III, you will implement and aid mission software teams in the onboarding and use of software factory capabilities. You will integrate development tools, cloud services, CI/CD pipelines, security controls, and observability into reliable workflows, using reusable templates and automation to reduce the effort required to onboard applications. You will work with programs that use established Department of the Air Force software factories, such as Platform One, ODIN, and DAF CloudWorks, and help teams navigate their onboarding, access, application integration, security, and release processes. Working under general direction, you will independently resolve complex technical issues and collaborate with developers, cybersecurity personnel, and government stakeholders to improve the developer experience and delivery outcomes.
Integrate source control, CI/CD, artifact repositories, container registries, automated testing, security scanning, secrets management, and observability into software delivery workflows
Work with program teams and factory providers to assess application fit, prepare onboarding information, obtain access, and map existing development and release processes to available factory services
Configure and use established software factories, including Platform One, ODIN, or DAF CloudWorks as applicable, to build, test, secure, and deploy program applications
Develop and maintain reusable CI/CD templates, infrastructure-as-code modules, container baselines, and deployment patterns that teams can adopt with minimal customization
Automate builds, tests, vulnerability checks, artifact promotion, deployments, and operational monitoring across development, test, and production environments
Implement security controls and evidence collection within delivery workflows in coordination with cybersecurity and RMF/ATO teams; address application-specific control responsibilities and findings
Provision and configure cloud and container services, including identity, networking, storage, compute, Kubernetes, and secrets, within approved environments
Troubleshoot onboarding, integration, pipeline, deployment, and performance issues; document fixes and improve the shared platform
Create self-service documentation, examples, and onboarding guidance so development teams can use factory capabilities effectively
Provide technical guidance to application teams on factory tools, DevSecOps practices, and secure releases
Maintain configuration standards, monitor service health and delivery metrics, and improve reliability and developer experience
Provide technical support to operational strategies aligned within your program and initiatives that optimize processes, enhance productivity, and ensure quality across all program functions
Ensure 100% of planned hours are worked and recorded
Identify and forward to your leadership any opportunities that could lead to growth within your work area
Participate in growth efforts as requested
Ensure all contractual deliverables are met/exceeded to the customer's satisfaction
Complete personal PDP and attend Staff Meeting and Storytime (with camera on)
Within your program, build productive and positive professional relationships with clients
Execute all contract requirements as assigned in accordance with the contract-specific LCAT and requirements
Perform other related duties as assigned
Clearance: Active TS/SCI
Education and Years of Experience: Bachelor's (or equivalent) with 5 - 7 years of experience, or a Master's and 3 to 5 years of experience in software factory engineering, DevSecOps, cloud/platform engineering, IT operations, or software development
Hands‑on experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines, automated tests, artifact workflows, and reusable delivery templates
Experience onboarding or supporting applications in an established software factory or shared development platform, including access, toolchain integration, and release workflows
Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation and scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell
Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
Understanding of DevSecOps security scanning, vulnerability remediation, monitoring, and the application team’s role in RMF/ATO processes
Experience using Platform One, ODIN, DAF CloudWorks, or a comparable DoD software factory as an application team member or onboarding engineer
Experience with artifact repositories, hardened containers, SBOMs, secrets management, and software supply-chain controls
Familiarity with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, or ELK Stack
Experience creating developer documentation or self-service onboarding workflows for multiple teams
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum and responsibly integrating AI-assisted or agentic development tools into delivery workflows
Familiarity with AI-assisted development and agentic workflows, including coding agents, MCP integrations, automated tests, and documentation, with human review and configuration control
$121,199 - $150,584 a year
