Job summary

Google LLC in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Software Engineering Tech Lead for Platform Security to guide security engineering across multiple teams and locations. You will develop threat models, lead reviews, and define security requirements for hardware entering Google data centers, while aligning with product strategy.

You will manage a team of security engineers, provide technical leadership, and help drive security improvements across Google Cloud platforms and data center ecosystems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience programming in C.
• 8 years of experience in infrastructure security.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of security engineers who scope and perform comprehensive security reviews of devices deployed in Google data centers.
• Develop and refine threat models, perform risk assessments, and define security requirements for hardware products entering Google data centers.
• Improve security processes to raise the security bar across multiple development teams.
• Lead AI-supported security review campaigns on specification-level as well as on source code or binaries.

You will improve the process to best achieve security in a landscape of many development teams. You will interact with different development teams and external vendors in different time zones.

Compensation

US: $207000 - $300000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

• Lead team of security engineers working on data center platforms’ security with a focus on fundamental integrity mechanisms in hardware and firmware, and provide technical leadership.
• Develop and refine threat models, perform security reviews, and define security requirements for all platforms entering Google’s data centers.
• Drive and improve security processes for effectively raising the security bar.
• Lead and perform AI-supported security review campaigns on specification-level as well as on source code or binaries.
