Job summary

Salesforce MuleSoft is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff to join the platform engineering team. You will design, build, and ship integration platform capabilities and APIs at massive scale, spanning architecture, design, implementation, testing, and operations in a hybrid environment.

You’ll work with world-class engineers to develop scalable backend services, contribute to platform features, and mentor junior engineers, while maintaining high standards for security and performance.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software development experience with distributed systems and large-scale SaaS platforms.
  • Proficiency in Java, Python, Scala, Go, or Node.js with Java strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform (Anypoint Studio, DataWeave, API Manager, Runtime Manager, MQ).
  • Strong REST/SOAP/GraphQL API design and microservices experience.
  • Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
  • CI/CD, Git, and DevOps practices.
  • Security fundamentals: OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • B.Tech / B.E. / M.S. or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality, production-grade software in a microservices SaaS cloud with AI as a core part of development workflow.
  • Build scalable backend services and APIs within a multi-tenant environment.
  • Contribute to platform features including integration workflows, API lifecycle management, and runtime operations.
  • Participate in architecture reviews with senior engineers to align designs with platform standards.
  • Review code for correctness, quality, security, and performance.
  • Develop test strategies and automated tests to improve coverage.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to troubleshoot production issues in real time.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and cross-functional teams to deliver features.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering excellence.

Role Description

Salesforce MuleSoft is looking for a Senior Member of Technical Staff (SMTS) to join our platform engineering team. You will work alongside world-class engineers to design, build, and ship integration platform capabilities and APIs that customers love, adopt, and rely on — at massive scale. The role spans the full SDLC: architecture, design, implementation, testing, and production operations in a hybrid engineering model.

Your Impact

As a Senior Software Engineer on the MuleSoft Platform team, your responsibilities will include:

  • Design and develop high-quality, production-grade software using modern engineering practices, with AI as a core part of your development workflow
  • Build scalable, performant backend services and APIs within a microservices-based, multi-tenant SaaS cloud environment
  • Contribute to MuleSoft platform features including integration flows, API lifecycle management, and runtime operations
  • Participate in architecture reviews and collaborate with senior engineers and architects to align designs with platform standards
  • Critically evaluate code (human or AI-generated) for correctness, quality, security, and performance through rigorous code reviews
  • Develop test strategies and write unit, integration, and functional tests to drive code quality and automation coverage
  • Participate in the team’s on‑call rotation to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues in real‑time
  • Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, and cross‑functional teams to deliver impactful features
  • Mentor junior engineers (MTS/AMTS) and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and engineering excellence
Required Skills
  • 5+ years of software development experience with distributed systems and large-scale SaaS platforms
  • Strong programming skills in one or more: Java, Python, Scala, Go, Node.js (Java strongly preferred)
  • Solid understanding of MuleSoft Anypoint Platform — Anypoint Studio, DataWeave, API Manager, Runtime Manager, MQ (experience or strong interest)
  • Strong fundamentals in REST/SOAP/GraphQL API design and microservices architecture
  • Experience with public cloud platforms — AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Solid SQL and NoSQL database skills (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines , Git, and DevOps practices
  • Understanding of security fundamentals: OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and triage skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • B.Tech / B.E. / M.S. in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
Preferred / Nice to Have
  • MuleSoft certifications (Certified Developer L1/L2) or strong interest in getting certified
  • Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub, MuleSoft MQ)
  • Familiarity with Agentforce / AI-integrated workflows
  • Experience with Kubernetes/Docker and cloud-native infrastructure
  • Prior experience on integration platforms or API gateway technologies

At Salesforce, we believe in equitable compensation practices that reflect the dynamic nature of labor markets across various regions. The typical base salary range for this position is $148,500 - $223,900 annually. The range represents base salary only, and does not include company bonus, incentive for sales roles, equity or benefits, as applicable.
