Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space in Bethesda, MD, is seeking a Ground Product Line Product Manager to drive the Ground segment integration, test, and delivery. You will coordinate cross-functional teams across software, systems engineering, and verification to ensure on-time delivery.

Lockheed Martin is designing, developing, and delivering a next‑gen wideband MILSATCOM system comprised of integrated space and ground segments that will provide enhanced communications capacity, flexibility and resiliency.

The selected candidate will support the program in the capacity of the Ground Integrated Product Team (IPT) Ground Product Line (GPL) Product Manager contributing to the successful integration, test and delivery of the Ground segment. Prior experience as a Systems or Software engineer with extensive domain knowledge of ground systems, networks, and integration & test of enterprise software products is required.

Manages software development activities. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the design, development, documentation, and testing of software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Ensures software standards are met.

Basic Qualifications

• Systems Engineering experience with at least one of:
• Requirements, CONOPS, ICD, or Architecture
• Detailed knowledge and understanding of systems engineering process
• Prior experience with satellite ground systems design, development, integration, and test
• Experience with Space payload and vehicle management for comms missions
• Experience with model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
• Experience with Horizon & Compass enterprise Ground
• Product Line (GPL) products
• Experience working in an Agile I&T environment, including tools such as Jira and Confluence
• Agile experience in a Lead capacity such as RTE, Product Owner or Scrum Master
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance is required

Desired Skills

• Experience supporting Systems Engineering technical performance objectives and deliverables (e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR)
• Experience working with different engineering disciplines to derive, decompose and verify requirements
• Strong knowledge of modern technology frameworks, IP networking, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), microservices, APIs, DevSecOps, and data architecture
• Experienced in software development using programming and scripting languages such as C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, etc.
• Experience in application containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)
• Proficiency with SysML and Cameo
• SAFe Agile Product Owner or Product Manager Certified
• Experience with MOSA
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment with technical teams across virtual environments
• Excellent verbal & written communication skills
• Support occasional business travel (up to 25%)
• Active Secret or higher clearance

Pay Information

GeoZone Definition: GeoZones are geographic groupings created by Lockheed Martin to align compensation ranges with regional labor markets and cost-of-labor differences across the United States. Locations are assigned a Geo Zone based on the primary work location of the role.

• Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 1): $185400.00 - $344400.00
  • Includes metropolitan areas such as Sunnyvale CA; Pal Alto, CA; New York City metropolitan area; Newark, New Jersey; etc.
• Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 2): :$166900.00 - $309900.00
  • Includes metropolitan areas such as Denver, CO; King of Prussia, PA; Stratford, CT; Moorestown, NJ; etc.
• Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 3): :$148300.00 - $275500.00
  • Includes metropolitan areas such as Dallas-Fort Worth, TX; Orlando, FL; Grand Prairie, TX; Marietta, GA; etc.
• Full-time salary range (GEOZONE 4): :$133500.00 - $247900.00
  • Includes metropolitan areas such as Camden, AR; Lexington, KY; Ocala, FL; Lufkin, TX; etc.

Benefits offered:

• Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
• For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
