Position Overview

The Software Engineering Manager leads a team responsible for designing, implementing, and delivering our next-generation marketing automation ecosystem. This leader will head a development team focused on leveraging data to drive AI and tool development for marketing automations. The role involves managing, mentoring, and coaching the team to ensure successful and timely project delivery. The ideal candidate has a strong engineering background in modern cloud-based data platforms, proven experience managing small teams, extensive Agile experience, and a comprehensive understanding of the entire software development lifecycle. Experience in marketing automation and artificial intelligence is a significant advantage. This manager will collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to deliver innovative marketing features and functionalities.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide teams with strong technical leadership, balancing immediate impact with long-term architectural goals.
• Define non-functional requirements and analyze all requirements for design feasibility within budget and time constraints.
• Accurately estimate software development timelines, proactively manage risks, and adapt to evolving requirements.
• Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other teams and leadership to deliver impactful solutions.
• Develop and communicate a clear roadmap to manage expectations with product owners and stakeholders.
• Report progress using data-driven insights.
• Delegate tasks effectively, maintaining a balanced workload for the team.
• Continuously improve agile software engineering processes and practices.
• Identify and mitigate technical debt proactively.

Skills and Abilities

• Extensive cloud-native development expertise, especially with AWS services.
• Knowledge and experience with AI frameworks and models like Amazon Bedrock.
• Deep understanding of agile software development lifecycle, including specifications, documentation, security, testing, and deployment.
• Hands-on approach, working daily with engineering teams in standups, sprint planning, and grooming.
• Partnering with business analysts to plan and groom user stories.
• Ability to lead a small team, providing direction, coaching, and feedback.
• Results-oriented with measurable targets and metrics guiding decision-making.
• Demonstrates both design and coding expertise; we hire coding managers.

Minimum Qualifications

• Proven experience working with AWS services.
• Extensive experience working with data in a marketing context.
• People management experience, overseeing 3-5 engineers daily.
• Deep technical understanding of cloud-native development, programming languages, and automation frameworks.
• Ability to work collaboratively across functions, aligning with architectural standards and policies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience automating sales or marketing processes.
• Experience within large, distributed agile development organizations.
• Ability to handle ambiguity, drive consensus, and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation and Benefits
