Job summary

Muon Space in San Jose, CA seeks a Software Engineering Manager for the Information Systems team to lead a hands-on, high-performing full-stack group building internal software and platforms that power operations. You will hire, mentor and grow engineers, set technical standards, partner with product and business stakeholders, and spend time designing, reviewing, and coding alongside the team.

Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in computer science or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years experience on high-performing software teams with full-stack development.
• 3+ years direct management experience of software engineers.
• Experience owning complex software systems from design through production, ideally internal tools or enterprise software.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript/TypeScript, React, PostgreSQL, and REST/GraphQL API design.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and grow a team of full-stack software engineers building Muon's internal software, platforms and integrations.
• Recruit and plan for a scalable organization; own workforce planning and resourcing.
• Set high standards for code quality, design review, testing, security and reliability.
• Partner with product managers and stakeholders to translate roadmaps into goals and delivery commitments.
• Own end-to-end delivery of internal software from concept to deployment and support.
• Stay hands-on: contribute to architecture, code reviews and implementation when needed.
• Guide buy-vs-build and integration of core systems to automate data flows.
• Identify and implement CI/CD, observability and AI-assisted development to speed delivery.
• Create an inclusive, collaborative culture with opportunities for growth.
