Job summary

Forvis Mazars, LLP in Missouri is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple product teams and drive engineering excellence. You will coach engineers, promote Agile practices, oversee delivery, and ensure SSDLC, security, and DevOps standards are met.

Responsibilities include planning, estimation, risk identification, and collaboration with Product Managers and leads to align priorities. Strong communication and mentoring skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 3+ years of experience leading Agile software development teams.
  • Experience developing and supporting enterprise web applications.
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented design principles, software engineering best practices, and modern development methodologies.
  • Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile delivery practices.
  • Experience working with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Understanding of cloud-based application development and deployment.
  • Experience with source control systems and modern software delivery processesStrong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Promote sustainable team velocity and timely completion of development initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to SSDLC, DevOps, CI/CD, testing, code review, and security standards.
  • Oversee remediation of technical, operational, and security risks impacting software products.
  • Participate in architecture and technical design discussions to support scalable, maintainable, reliable, and secure solutions.
  • Drive identification and prioritization of technical debt reduction initiatives.
  • Champion operational excellence through monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability practices.
  • Support production issue management, incident response, and continuous improvement of system reliability.
  • Partner with Product Managers, Technical Product Owners, Lead Developers, and Project Managers to align priorities and delivery expectations.
  • Communicate critical risks, dependencies, and resource needs to technology leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience
  • 3+ years of experience leading Agile software development teams
  • Experience developing and supporting enterprise web applications

  • Experience with Secure Software Development Lifecycle (SSDLC), DevOps, CI/CD, and Agile delivery practices

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 10+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience developing data-driven web applications utilizing Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
  • Knowledge of web-based architecture including web servers, load balancing, caching, databases, and replication
  • Experience supporting cloud-hosted business applications
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Azure cloud technologies
  • Experience with Agile project management tools such as Jira
  • Familiarity with DevOps engineering practices and deployment automation
  • Knowledge of the public accounting or professional services industry
  • Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing engineering teams while balancing business priorities with technical excellence
