Job Requirements

Sweetwater, the number one online retailer in music instruments and pro audio gear, is looking for an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead the development of Sweetwater’s desktop CRM application and its ecosystem of supporting tools. This application is core to how we serve our customers and enable our Sales Engineers to provide the legendary service Sweetwater is known for. You will manage a team of developers, guide technical decisions, and work closely with stakeholders to deliver high-quality, reliable, and user-focused software.


Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, focusing on their individual career development, performance, and well-being through consistent coaching, feedback, and 1:1s
  • Work closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, and internal stakeholders to define and prioritize feature development
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle, ensuring timely and quality releases
  • Provide technical leadership, including code reviews, architectural guidance, and hands-on support when needed
  • Foster an environment of technical excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement, where every team member is empowered to solve complex problems
  • Collaborate with IT, QA, and DevOps to ensure smooth deployments and support
  • Participate in recruiting, onboarding, and performance management of engineering staff

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience in software development
  • 2+ years of experience in a formal people management role
  • Hands-on experience developing and maintaining complex desktop or enterprise-level applications.
  • A deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and maintenance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Proven ability to lead teams through complex projects from planning to release
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools (e.g., Jira, Git, CI/CD pipelines)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience working on or managing CRM systems or enterprise-scale internal applicationswould be nice
  • Background in sales technology or customer support tools
  • Passion for music, gear, or pro audio (we love gear-heads!)
