Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience managing and leading projects.
• B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent.
• Proficiency with Yocto, AOSP builds, RTOS and embedded Linux.

Job description

Our client in Windsor, CT is looking for a Software Engineering Manager. This role will be responsible for Android and Linux software engineering teams, including embedded, operating system, and application development.

This position will be onsite initially and shift to a hybrid schedule after 90 days.

The ideal candidate will be a strong, collaborative leader who thrives on fostering team growth and continuous improvement while delivering impactful software initiatives for our terminal devices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Delivers strong leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to their optimum performance levels and actively engage in their career development
• Evaluates employee performance, sets expectations and goals for department and individual staff members.
• Efficiently allocates resources and ensures teams always have the appropriate direction to remain on track to meet customer commitments and deadlines
• Ensures accurate documentation at all stages of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
• Presents proposals for continuous improvement for the team and release cycle
• Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the ability to hire, terminate, train, on-board, strategize, brainstorm, facilitate, make presentations, document activities and actions, communicate, resolve conflicts, drive improvements, set the example, honor core values, engage in a positive team culture, and practice accountabilities for all subordinates and direct reports

Education, Work Experience and/or Skill Requirements:

• 7+ years of experience managing and leading projects
• B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent
• Proficiency with Yocto build systems.
• Proficiency with AOSP builds for custom hardware.
• Proficiency with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and Embedded firmware development on microcontrollers.
• Proficiency with debugging and resolving embedded hardware/software in Linux and Android systems.
• Proficient with JIRA or other Agile software development tools and processes
• Experience managing team members including on-site, on-shore, and off-shore.
