RTX is seeking a software-focused student or early-career professional for an on-site role in Sterling, VA. You will design, develop, test, and debug real-time, multi-threaded software for simulation and training, and collaborate with Agile teams to plan and prioritize work.

You are pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or a related STEM field, with experience in C/C++ and/or C#, unit testing, and version control. Security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced STEM degree and enrolled through internship/session.
• Experience with OOP using C/C++ and/or C#.
• Experience with unit testing and source control.

What You Will Do

• Design, develop, test, and debug real-time, multi-threaded, multiprocessing software applications, APIs, and associated user interfaces for simulation and training
• Regularly collaborate with other software engineers and project management to plan and prioritize development tasks on an Agile development team
• Support, maintain, and enhance existing software products as necessary
• Actively learn new technologies and techniques and apply them to new domains and problem sets

This position is on-site in Sterling, VA.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship/co-op session.
• Object-Oriented Design and Programming using C/C++ and/or C#
• Unit testing (GoogleTest, NUnit or similar) and software maintenance
• Source code control (Subversion, git, ClearCase, etc.)
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
• Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• AI/ML and/or OpenAI development experience
• Unreal Engine experience with C++ and Blueprints for gaming development
• Virtual reality and mixed reality development experience
• Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, and other virtualization and cloud computing technologies
• RDBMS databases such as PostgreSQL
• Multithreading IPCs (e.g. Mutex, Semaphore, Shared Memory, etc.)
• Continuous Integration experience (Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity or similar)

Position Role Type: Onsite. Employees who are working in onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products. The salary range for this role is 42,000 USD - 88,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
