Job summary

Northern Trust in Chicago offers a ten-week Technology Internship designed to build real software engineering skills. You will work with application and platform teams on day-to-day tasks and join program events to develop new capabilities.

You’ll gain hands-on experience with Agile development, CI/CD, and cloud-based solutions while networking with senior leaders and peers. The program includes workshops, Lunch & Learns, mentorship, and cross-functional projects to jump-start your career.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in CS or Information Systems with expected graduation between Dec 2027 and Summer 2028.
• GPA of 3.0 or higher; strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Interest in financial markets and the financial services industry.
• Analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills from coursework or internship.
• Leadership and teamwork demonstrated through projects or extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities

• Work with your team on day-to-day tasks and internship program events.
• Join program events to develop new skills, network with leaders, and connect with peers.
• Gain hands-on experience in professional software engineering with Agile development practices.
• Contribute to design, development, deployment and modernization of financial technology solutions.
• Involve in automation and potential generative AI work.
