Job summary

Garmin is seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern at our office in Yarmouth, Maine. The role focuses on learning to develop software for Garmin's navigation products, including GNSS & INS positioning solutions, under supervision.

Responsibilities include coding in C/C++/C# or Java, testing with debuggers and emulators, and participating in software releases and QA activities while gaining hands-on experience in a team setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description.
• Excellent academics (GPA >= 3.0).
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience/training in C, C++, C#, or Java relevant to Garmin’s business needs.
• Experience/training in data structures or object-oriented design.

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern at our office in Yarmouth, Maine. In this role, you will be responsible for Software Engineer Intern: learning and training to develop software for Garmin's communication and navigation products in a team-oriented environment under supervision. Positioning Software Engineer Intern: learning and training to develop GNSS & INS based positioning solutions.

Essential Functions

• Learn to develop software in C, C++, Assembly language, or other selected languages for Garmin communication and navigation products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology with guidance
• Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
• Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
• Learn to perform maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
• Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Software Engineer:
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in a high-level language such as C, C++, C# or Java relevant to Garmin’s business needs
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin’s business needs

Desired Qualifications

• Pursuing a master's degree in Geomatics, Aerospace or Software engineering
• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience working in a team environment
