Job summary

Garmin Ltd. is seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern at our office in Yarmouth, Maine. The role focuses on learning to develop software for Garmin's navigation products under supervision and participates in GNSS & INS positioning related work.

You will gain hands-on experience coding in C, C++, Assembly, and possibly C# or Java, with emphasis on software testing, QA, and gradual release processes within a team setting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
• Excellent academics (GPA ≥ 3.0 as a general rule)
• Strong communication skills in verbal and written form
• Experience or training in languages such as C, C++, C#, or Java relevant to Garmin’s business needs
• Experience or training in data structures or object-oriented design

Responsibilities

• Learn to develop software in C, C++, Assembly or other languages for Garmin products with guidance
• Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators and logic analyzers
• Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern at our office in Yarmouth, Maine. In this role, you will be responsible for Software Engineer Intern: learning and training to develop software for Garmin's communication and navigation products in a team-oriented environment under supervision. Positioning Software Engineer Intern: learning and training to develop GNSS & INS based positioning solutions.

Essential Functions

• Learn to develop software in C, C++, Assembly language, or other selected languages for Garmin communication and navigation products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology with guidance
• Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
• Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
• Learn to perform maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
• Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Software Engineer:
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in a high-level language such as C, C++, C# or Java relevant to Garmin’s business needs
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin’s business needs

Desired Qualifications

• Pursuing a master's degree in Geomatics, Aerospace or Software engineering
• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience working in a team environment
