Job summary

Garmin is seeking a Software Engineering Intern for our Montgomery, TX location. You will learn to develop software for Garmin's communication and navigation products under supervision in a collaborative, team-based environment.

Essential functions include learning C#/.NET, TypeScript and React, testing with debuggers and simulators, participating in software releases and QA activities, and maintaining production and new product software.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• GPA 3.0 or higher as a general rule.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience or training in C#/.NET, TypeScript and/or React.
• Experience with data structures or OO design relevant to Garmin’s needs.

Responsibilities

• Learn to develop software in C#/.NET, TypeScript and/or React for Garmin products with guidance.
• Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers.
• Learn to participate in software releases and quality assurance activities.
• Learn maintenance activities for production and new product software.
• Integrate with products in development and provide feedback when possible.

Job description

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern at our location in Montgomery, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to develop software for Garmin's communication and navigation products in a team-oriented environment under supervision.

Essential Functions

• Learn to develop software in C#/.net/typescript and/or React or other selected languages for Garmin communication and navigation products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology with guidance
• Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
• Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
• Learn to perform maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
• Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in languages such as C#/.net/typescript and/or React
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin’s business needs

Desired Qualifications

• Relevant experience and/or training in a backend environment
• Relevant experience in Restful API's or Postman
• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience working in a team environment
