Job summary

Garmin International in Montgomery, TX is seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern to learn and contribute to software for Garmin's navigation and communication products under supervision. You'll gain hands-on experience with C#/.NET, TypeScript and React, participate in testing, releases, and maintenance, and collaborate with a team in a structured software development process.

Applicants should be pursuing CS/EE/CE with strong academics and communication skills; internship offers

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in CS/EE/CE or related field.
• GPA 3.0+ recommended.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

• Knowledge of data structures and object-oriented design.

Responsibilities

• Learn software development in Garmin's methods under supervision.
• Develop software in C#/.NET, TypeScript and/or React as applicable.

• Participate in software releases and quality assurance activities.
• Assist maintenance of production software and new designs.

Overview

We are seeking a full-time Software Engineering Intern at our location in Montgomery, TX. In this role, you will be responsible for learning and training to develop software for Garmin's communication and navigation products in a team-oriented environment under supervision.

Essential Functions

• Learn to develop software in C#/.net/typescript and/or React or other selected languages for Garmin communication and navigation products in accordance with Garmin’s software development methodology with guidance
• Learn to test software using debuggers, emulators, simulators, and logic analyzers
• Learn to perform software releases and software quality assurance activities
• Learn to perform maintenance activities for products already in production in addition to new product software design
• Associates are expected to integrate, use, and provide feedback on products in development when possible as part of their normal job responsibilities

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule)
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in languages such as C#/.net/typescript and/or React
• Must possess relevant experience and/or training in data structures or object-oriented design methodology relevant to Garmin’s business needs

Desired Qualifications

• Relevant experience and/or training in a backend environment
• Relevant experience in Restful API's or Postman
• Outstanding academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5)
• Previous experience working in a team environment
