Job summary

L3Harris is seeking an Intern, Software Engineering in Carlsbad, CA. You will apply CS, engineering and math concepts to develop software for embedded real-time systems used in advanced tactical radio equipment, interfacing hardware and software and supporting the full SDLC.

You will work with cross-functional teams, develop tests, review defects, and use languages such as C++, C#, C, Java, Python, HTML5, SQL, and more on Windows, Linux and RTOS platforms.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, electrical engineering, or related field at an accredited university.
• Experience with embedded software concepts and real-time control is desirable.
• Strong problem-solving and teamwork abilities are required.

Responsibilities

• Apply CS, engineering and mathematical analysis to develop software for the target application.
• Collaborate with cross-functional team to design interfaces between hardware and software.
• Support all phases of the software development life cycle for embedded real-time systems.
• Develop software test procedures, programs and related documentation.
• Utilize modeling tools to establish operating data and evaluate results.
• Participate in peer reviews and defect tracking.
• Use multiple languages on Windows, Linux and RTOS platforms.

Job Schedule: 9/80: Employees work 9 out of every 14 days – totaling 80 hours worked, and have every other Friday off

Job Description:

• Apply computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of software for the target application

• Work closely with cross functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and design of the overall system

• Support and participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test of embedded software for real-time control of advanced tactical radio equipment

• Develop software test procedures, software programs, and related documentation

• Utilize modeling tools and equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests, and evaluate results

• Participate in peer reviews, identify, track and repair defects

• Utilize a variety of software languages (i.e., C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, HTML5, XML, SQL, Perl, Python, Ajax, Qt) on Windows, Linux, mobile platforms, and embedded real time operating systems (VxWorks, Linux, QNX, Integrity, Windows CE, and others for Motorola, Intel, TI, and custom processor designs)

  Qualifications:

• Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, a Master’s degree, or a PhD in computer science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Wireless Engineering, Information Security, Mathematics, Digital Arts & Sciences or related field at an accredited university.

  Preferred Skills:

• One or more of the following: C++, C#, C, Java, Ruby, JEE, HTML5, XML, SQL, Qt, Windows, .NET, Unix, Linux, SOA, RTOS, Real-Time Controls, Wireless, Software Security, Robotics, OOA/OOD, Hadoop, Android, Embedded Systems

  In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the salary range for this role in California, Connecticut,

• Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, and the Greater D.C. area, Denver, or NYC areas is $29/hr - $53.50/hr. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. L3Harris also offers a variety of benefits, including relocation stipend, 401(k), EAP, and company-paid holidays. The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements.
