Job summary

Terranova is seeking a software engineering intern in Berkeley, CA to design and maintain scalable web apps. You’ll work on frontend and backend components, APIs, and deployment pipelines, with cloud infrastructure.

You’ll collaborate with robotics teams and product engineers to integrate telemetry and control interfaces. You should be pursuing a BS or higher in Computer Science or related field, with comfort in a fast-paced startup environment and a willingness to work on-site part-time.

Qualifications

• Experience with modern web tech and APIs is a plus.
• Ability to design and maintain scalable applications in a startup environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement web applications using TypeScript, React/Next.js, and Node/FastAPI/Go.
• Build and operate distributed backends with Postgres and Redis.
• Manage infrastructure-as-code deployments (Terraform/CDK) on cloud platforms.
• Implement CI/CD, tests, observability, and incident workflows.
• Collaborate with product and robotics teams to integrate data and interfaces.

What To To Expect

We are seeking a software engineering intern who can design and maintain modern, scalable applications while owning our cloud and infrastructure layer. You’ll build responsive user interfaces, develop backend APIs, and architect deployments that can scale globally. OAuth/OIDC. You’ll thrive if you’ve worked on platform or infra teams (Vercel, Cloudflare, AWS) or as a product engineer at performance-oriented orgs (Stripe, Notion, etc.). What You’ll Do

• Design and implement performant, maintainable web apps using TypeScript, React/Next.js, and Node/FastAPI/Go.
• Build and operate distributed backends with Postgres, Redis, and task queues.
• Manage infrastructure-as-code deployments (Terraform/CDK) on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Implement CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and incident-response workflows.
• Collaborate with product and robotics teams to integrate data, telemetry, and control interfaces.
• Build customer facing and internal tools
• Full stack application development
• Comfortable with the pace and intensity of early-stage startup life
• Working towards a bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
• U.S. permanent residency required
• Ability to be on-site part-time required

Compensation And Timeline

• $20-28/hr + relocation + company perks
