Job summary

Robinhood is seeking a Software Engineer to build and own backend services, infrastructure, and data systems for Robinhood Wallet. You will design scalable architectures, deliver secure and efficient cryptocurrency and tokenized stock trading experiences, and collaborate with multiple teams to raise engineering standards.

The role is based in our offices with in-person attendance required several days per week, offering high-impact work, equity, and generous benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of software development experience.

The Robinhood Wallet team’s mission is to democratize access to financial services worldwide by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain! We build secure, intuitive, and decentralized products that enable our users to custody and manage their digital assets. Our team works at the intersection of traditional finance and web3, driving progress in cryptocurrency and blockchain applications. We work closely across multiple engineering and design areas to deliver highly reliable, high-performance systems for customers worldwide.

As a Software Engineer , you will build and own the backend services, infrastructure, and data systems that support Robinhood Wallet products. You will develop new features and system enhancements to deliver a highly secure and efficient trading experience for cryptocurrencies and tokenized stocks, including perpetual futures, to customers worldwide. In this role, you will design scalable architectures and maintain high-quality codebases. You will also collaborate with other engineering teams to guide key technical decisions and raise our team's engineering standards.

This role is based in our New York, NY or Menlo Park, CA office(s), with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week. What you’ll do

Design, build, test, and deploy scalable backend services that power Robinhood Wallet.

Develop product-facing features and platform enhancements that meet strict correctness and scalability standards.

Identify and implement improvements to system performance, engineering productivity, and risk reduction.

Collaborate closely with client teams, product managers, designers, and external vendors to deliver reliable technical solutions.

What you bring

2+ years of experience in software development.

Expertise in backend development using languages such as Go, Python, or Java, with deep knowledge of cloud-native architectures.

Strong grasp of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.

Proven ability to simplify complex problems, make sound tradeoffs, and drive alignment across product, engineering, and design teams.

Strong sense of personal accountability with a track record of delivering successful, end-to-end products and raising team-wide technical standards.

Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.

Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.

Base pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected base pay range for this role is based on the location where the work will be performed and is aligned to one of 3 compensation zones. For other locations not listed, compensation can be discussed with your recruiter during the interview process.

$166,000 - $195,000 USD

Zone 2 (Denver, CO; Westlake, TX; Chicago, IL)

$147,000 - $172,000 USD

Zone 3 (Lake Mary, FL; Clearwater, FL; Gainesville, FL)

$130,000 - $152,000 USD
