Job summary

Kitware in Clifton Park, NY seeks a Software Engineer skilled in C++ and Python to translate research into robust software for real-world use. You will work with researchers on computer vision, ML, and AI projects, delivering cross-platform solutions for Linux, macOS, and Windows.

The role emphasizes collaboration with customers, live field tests, and open source contributions, including VIAME and TeleSculptor, with eligibility for TS/SCI clearance and U.S. citizenship.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with project experience outside of academic setting.
• Strong programming skills with experience using both C++ and Python.
• Experience with software development tools and environments (Visual Studio, gcc, clang, make, CMake, CDash).
• Ability to develop software for Linux, macOS, and Windows.
• U.S. citizenship required due to contractual obligations.
• Willingness and ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Develop robust software solutions using C++ and Python.
• Collaborate with researchers and engineers on projects involving computer vision, machine learning, and AI.
• Translate research, algorithms, and prototypes into reliable software for real-world applications.
• Contribute to projects in areas such as 3D reconstruction, object detection, image manipulation detection, motion pattern learning, and anomaly detection.
• Develop software for Linux, macOS, and Windows environments.
• Interact directly with customers, visit customer sites, and participate in live field tests and demonstrations.
• Contribute to and maintain open source software such as VIAME and TeleSculptor.
