The Software Engineer VI will work with technical teams to create software solutions using prevailing technologies, improving customer experience while adhering to business and technical requirements. Develop, modify, enhance, and implement software systems designed to support business initiatives.

WHAT OUR SOFTWARE ENGINEER VI ENJOY MOST

• Supporting efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Participating in the design of dependent systems, e.g., APIs, data stores, CI/CD pipelines.
• Designing and implementing new functionality that is testable and performant with minimal oversight.
• Determining methods and procedures on new assignments and coordinating activities of other personnel.
• Understanding the organization's vision and applying it to help create the roadmap.
• Analyzing and evaluating market products and their pros and cons.
• Maintaining knowledge of industry standards and best practices.
• Developing software independently to overcome roadblocks and assessing their impact on the roadmap.
• Leading root cause analysis activities for escaped defects.
• Resolving system integration issues and managing critical production hotfixes.
• Prioritizing work effectively, meeting timelines, and managing multiple tasks.
• Closing technical debts and visualizing technology roadmaps.
• Providing level of effort estimates for projects and features.
• Creating technical requirements and design documentation.
• Managing deployment artifacts and enforcing code best practices.
• Identifying performance improvements and enhancing application scalability and resilience.
• Collaborating across teams to solve technical problems.
• Presenting projects to senior leadership and the business.
• Mentoring junior developers and participating in interview processes.
• Building effective relationships within and outside the team.
• Providing technical consulting and SME support within the organization.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUM

Required Qualifications

• Experience with database management systems (4-6+ years)
• Experience in coding, testing, and designing software (4-6+ years)
• Experience with software development methodologies (4-6+ years)
• BA/BS in IT, CS, or related field, or equivalent experience
• Knowledge of a major programming language and tool
• Familiarity with coding syntax, functions, and object-oriented patterns
• Experience with container environments, Docker, and cloud-native development
• Understanding of APIs, data stores, and system dependencies
• Knowledge of design and architecture patterns

Skills

• Proficiency in at least one major programming language/tool
• Experience with microservices, SOA, monoliths, and anti-patterns
• Ability to apply appropriate design patterns
• Experience with multiple platforms, container tools, and cloud applications
• Understanding of software development best practices
• Judgment in method selection and problem-solving
• Ability to present complex projects to leadership
• Progressing towards advanced knowledge in a programming language/tool
