Job summary

ByteDance’s PICO Developer Technology team builds foundational XR technologies, including runtime software, SDKs, and game engines. The role focuses on writing engine extensions, prototyping new XR features for Pico XR, and integrating runtime features with Unity tooling.

You will help drive the Pico Unity developer SDKs and XR tool packages while addressing developer pain points across the ecosystem. Join a team committed to enabling immersive experiences and cross-platform compatibility.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

About the Team

The PICO Developer Technology team is dedicated to building the foundational technologies that enable immersive XR experiences. Our team is responsible for developing and optimizing XR technologies across the software stack, including runtime software, developer SDKs, and game engines. By empowering our developers, we help create the most advanced XR applications.

Responsibilities:

• Write Unity engine or Unreal Engine extensions including engine runtime modules, graphics components, and native plugins
• Prototype and developer new engine, graphics, or XR features for Pico XR device
• Help integrate new runtime features with Unity tools and build pipelines
• Help drive PICO Unity developer SDK’s and XR tool packages
• Developer ecosystem support, addressing developer pain points

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• Experienced with game engines such as Unity/Unreal
• Good practical knowledge of Unity engine scripting API’s
• Practical knowledge of 3D graphics, rendering, and shaders
• Strong knowledge of object oriented design patterns with C++/C#, 3D Vector math and data structures

Preferred Qualifications

• Good understanding of modern graphics, shaders and pipeline
• Experience designing immersive applications XR and web/mobile games/apps using Unity
• Experience Native Unity Engine Plugin development

Job Information

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $162000 - $387600 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).
