Job description

We are developing an Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) program that will design, develop, and implement a scalable, repeatable, automated, and enterprise-wide framework for evaluating the quality, accuracy, and mission utility of GEOINT products. The framework will support imagery, geospatial data, 3D GEOINT, mapping products, and future GEOINT data types by providing standardized methodologies for automated testing, metric generation, data storage, visualization, and reporting.

The successful candidate will be part of a team supporting the design, development, integration, testing, deployment, and sustainment of the enterprise IV&V platform while collaborating with Government stakeholders to evaluate existing GEOINT IV&V capabilities, implement automated verification processes, and deliver intuitive, scalable software solutions.

Role Overview

The Software Engineer – UI/UX will design, develop, integrate, and maintain an enterprise Independent Verification and Validation (IV&V) application supporting automated evaluation of GEOINT products, including imagery, geospatial data, mapping products, and 3D GEOINT datasets. The engineer will have particular responsibility for developing intuitive, responsive, and mission-focused user interfaces that enable users to configure evaluation workflows, explore GEOINT data, visualize quality metrics, analyze results, and generate reports.

Working closely with software engineers, Cloud & DevOps Engineers, systems engineers, data scientists, and Government stakeholders, the engineer will translate complex technical and mission requirements into effective user experiences and scalable software solutions. The engineer will contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, user experience design, application development, API integration, automated testing, deployment, and operational transition.

Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain web-based applications supporting the enterprise GEOINT IV&V framework.
  • Develop intuitive and responsive user interfaces for configuring IV&V workflows, reviewing GEOINT products, analyzing metrics, and reporting evaluation results.
  • Translate Government stakeholder, analyst, and mission-user requirements into effective application workflows, user interfaces, and visualization concepts.
  • Develop interactive dashboards, charts, maps, tables, and other visualizations that communicate GEOINT quality, accuracy, performance, and mission-utility metrics.
  • Design user workflows that simplify complex IV&V processes and enable users to efficiently configure evaluations, compare results, identify anomalies, and investigate underlying data.
  • Develop reusable frontend components and integrate them with RESTful APIs, backend services, databases, and GEOINT data services.
  • Support visualization and interaction with imagery, geospatial data, mapping products, 3D GEOINT datasets, and associated metadata.
  • Collaborate with users and Government stakeholders to develop prototypes, mockups, wireframes, and iterative interface improvements based on user feedback.
  • Apply usability, accessibility, responsive design, and human-centered design principles to application development.
  • Collaborate with Cloud & DevOps Engineers to support containerized deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps automation.
  • Apply secure software development practices and integrate appropriate authentication, authorization, logging, and application security controls.
  • Support software integration, system testing, defect resolution, performance optimization, and operational transition activities.
  • Participate in system architecture reviews, software design reviews, code reviews, demonstrations, and technical interchange meetings.
  • Prepare technical documentation, interface documentation, user guides, and other application documentation.
  • Participate in Agile software development activities including sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and retrospectives.
Required Qualifications
  • Active TS clearance with eligibility for SCI and CI Polygraph (we can sponsor your SCI and CI poly if you don't already have them).
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related technical discipline and 9 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree in a related field and 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise web applications.
  • Experience applying UI/UX principles to the design and development of intuitive application workflows and user interfaces.
  • Experience developing dashboards, interactive visualizations, charts, maps, tables, or other interfaces for presenting and analyzing complex technical data.
  • Experience translating user and mission requirements into application functionality, interface designs, and user workflows.
  • Experience integrating frontend applications with RESTful APIs, backend services, and relational and/or NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with one or more backend programming languages such as Python, Java, C#, C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience developing software using modern software engineering methodologies including Agile development, version control, automated testing, and continuous integration.
  • Experience with Git, GitLab, GitHub, or similar source code management platforms.
  • Experience collaborating within DevSecOps environments utilizing automated build, testing, and deployment pipelines.
  • Understanding of secure software development and application security principles.
Desired Qualifications
  • NGA domain experience with development or deployment into CORE and/or RLE (CORE highly preferred).
  • Experience developing user interfaces supporting imagery exploitation, geospatial analytics, mapping, remote sensing, or other GEOINT mission areas.
  • Experience with geospatial web development technologies and libraries such as Cesium, OpenLayers, Leaflet, Mapbox, ArcGIS APIs, or similar technologies.
  • Experience developing interactive scientific, engineering, geospatial, or operational data visualizations using libraries or frameworks such as D3.js, Plotly, Highcharts, deck.gl, or similar technologies.
  • Experience designing interfaces for displaying and interacting with 2D/3D geospatial data, imagery, or complex multidimensional datasets.
  • Experience with human-centered design, user research, usability testing, prototyping, wireframing, or tools such as Figma.
  • Experience working directly with mission users to gather feedback, evaluate usability, and iteratively improve application workflows.
  • Experience developing cloud-native applications deployed within Kubernetes, OpenShift, or AWS environments.
  • Familiarity with GEOINT data standards, OGC services, STAC, or related geospatial APIs and data formats.
