What you’ll be doing
Job Summary:
As a Technical Lead on the IT Platforms team, you will shape development, testing, and release processes for Travel Insurance platforms, supporting all development efforts within the CSA line of business.
- Technical Leadership: Develop and maintain code for B2B, B2C, and B2B2C platforms.
- Innovation: Create solutions for new and existing customers and channels.
- Collaboration: Work with technical leads, developers, QA, architects, analysts, project managers, and security teams globally.
- Cross-Functional Engagement: Partner with engineering, operations, product, and commercial teams to deliver results and optimize services.
- Best Practices: Implement and promote engineering best practices.
- Team Coordination: Collaborate with DevOps, Infrastructure, Security, and compliance teams.
- Issue Resolution: Address complex platform issues related to security, performance, payments, and claims.
- Technical Expertise: Hands-on analysis, coding, troubleshooting, bug fixing, and support.
- CI/CD Experience: Extensive experience with CI/CD systems in a microservices AWS environment.
- Agile Methodology: Proficiency in Agile Scrum, Jira, and story creation.
- Leadership Experience: Proven ability to lead a global team of over 50 members and vendors.
- Collaboration Skills: Work with partners, customers, and third-party vendors for 24/7 support and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities
Leadership – 15%
- Guide development teams in designing, testing, and deploying applications.
- Work with architecture teams to document technical specs, create epics, assign tickets, and track progress.
- Mentor junior staff, conduct code reviews, and ensure standards are met.
- Manage triage and resolution of complex platform issues.
Software Development – 70%
- Design, develop, test, and deploy software applications.
- Participate in sprint planning and daily stand-ups, coordinate with offshore teams.
- Resolve blockers and fix production defects.
Project Coordination and Support - 15%
- Align external partner deliverables with internal capacity and timelines.
- Collaborate on new software projects and documentation.
- Define project plans, scope, estimates, and schedules.
- Assess existing systems and procedures.
Required / Desired Skills and Knowledge
- 5-10 years in Software Engineering.
- Frameworks: Spring Boot, JEE, IoC/DI, JPA, Hibernate.
- Cloud: AWS SQS, SNS, Lambda, API Gateway, Route 53, EBS, Fargate, CloudFormation, Terraform.
- CI/CD & Version Control: Jenkins, Bitbucket, branch management, release processes.
- Methodologies: Agile, Jira, Confluence.
- Messaging: JBoss/Wildfly, JMS, HornetMQ, RabbitMQ.
- Design: Patterns, best practices.
- Troubleshooting & QA: Hands-on experience, collaboration with QA.
- API Development: RESTful and SOAP APIs on AWS.
- Databases: MSSQL, MySQL/Aurora, DynamoDB.
Education/Certifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor's in Computer Science or related field preferred.
Work Location
Hybrid role based in San Diego, CA: 2 days onsite, 3 days remote.
